Good morning and Happy New Year!
Here are 13 completely random, simple (but not easy) ways to make 2022 great.
1. Speak up often for a group of people who cannot speak for themselves. The youth have been mine for many years. Who's yours? So many are marginalized today, they need your voice!
2. Commit to using your God-given gifts and talents to bless others beyond financial contribution.
3. Formulate your Focus. Focus not on the pain of doing something hard, but rather focus on how you'll feel after you do the thing you don't want to do but know you should do, then do it. Commit to a new pattern of focus.
4. Be purposeful about compliments. Remind yourself every morning to notice the good in others more often than the bad.
5. Learn something new like a language, a skill for your career, a new sport.
6. Take 10 deep breaths 2x/day or more- on your commute, in your shower, etc.
7. Create a theme. Mine is "Surrender and Partner". I am also using a physical representation for this-- getting on my knees every morning, left hand open signifying I am giving up control and am ready to receive, and my right hand slightly closed signifying I am choosing today to partner with the limitless and all-powerful God in all I do.
8. Don't wait, create. Make fun happen. Game night with the fam? Recreational sport with the spouse?
9. Get a coach in an area of life you want to improve.
10. Commit to keeping your phone in your pocket in lines, strike up a convo with someone in line.
11. Challenge yourself to get past superficial as fast a possible in conversations. "What is something you've always wanted to do in life but haven't yet? What makes your soul sing?"
12. Keep your brain and body fresh with the 55/5 rule. Move every 55 minutes. Set timers. 5 minutes of walking, jumping jacks, push ups, squats, or stretching for every 55 minutes of sitting down, doing work, etc. Physically this is transformational, but mentally and emotionally even more so.
13. Commit to a character quality for the entire year that you want to improve. Mine is Patience (with myself, business, with others, etc). Last year it was Curiosity. Pick one for you! Focus, tenacity, discipline, courage, calmness, stick-to-it-ive-ness, humility...
It will be an uncommon year if we do uncommon things.
Which of the 13 will you commit to? What else is on your list?
