A Universal Truth: You Reap What You Sow

Are you sowing good seeds?

Are you sowing seeds of low confidence?

Putting your head down, speaking quietly, not standing up for yourself…these are the habits that lead to low confidence.

You reap what you sow. Good habits and bad.

Farmers plant (sow) seeds in the field and understand three truths about those seeds.

1)   If they sow an apple seed, they will likely reap an apple tree. They cannot sow a weed seed and expect to reap a beautiful apple tree. They reap what they sow.

2)   If they plant, water, and cultivate that apple seed, it is almost guaranteed they will reap far more than just one apple. One apple seed will typically yield dozens and dozens of apples. They reap more than they sow.

3)   If they plant the seed in the Spring, it is unlikely they will reap the beautiful apple tree in the Spring. It will come months later. They reap later than they sow.

The same if true for us.

Athlete, if you are working out 2-3 days per week, practicing your sport skills 2-3 days per week, stretching daily, and eating well, here is what will happen.

1)  You will become faster, stronger, more resistant to injury, and have more clarity and energy throughout your day. You will become better on the field and most likely off the field as well. Your results will be a direct reflection of the work you put in. You will reap what you sow.

2)  When you compound this day after day, you will start to see exponential results. At first, it will seem like very little reward for the amount of time and effort you put in. But after a while, you will experience a compounding of your results. That is when it becomes fun and worth it. You will reap more than you sow.

3)  Your breakthroughs will begin to take place after 12 weeks minimum. At the 16-week mark, you will really start to notice the difference. But ultimately, you will reap later than you sow.

People will comment, “Wow Alex, you are looking fast and strong on the field! What have you been doing differently?” To which you reply, nothing. Same things 2-3 days per week, I just kept going until I saw the results.

You reap what you sow, more than you sow, and later than you sow.

The question is, will you remain consistent?

Ask yourself these three questions:

1.   Do I need to remind myself that there IS a proven path to succeeding in school, sports, relationships, and in every other area of my life?

2.   In which areas of my life do I need to be more consistent in?

3.   What areas do I need to continue being consistent in because it will eventually compound and begin to pay off?

If consistency is a challenge for you and/or your student-athlete, you probably just need accountability and inspiration from a coach who cares. If that is the case, give us a call or email us at info@pfpfit.com. You will never regret investing in your future success.
