If you want to be a highly confident, successful student-athlete, you must put pen to paper and self-reflect.
This one is where most athletes draw the line because it is so uncommon. Journal? You mean like get a diary and write down my thoughts?
Yep. How else are you going to work through your fears, your self-doubts, your frustrations, your failures?
88% OF ATHLETES SAY THEY HAVE THE FEAR OF FAILURE, MESSING UP, DISAPPOINTING OTHERS.
83% SAY THEY DOUBT THEMSELVES A MINIMUM OF 1 TIME PER GAME.
94% SAY THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO OVERCOME MISTAKES QUICKLY.
The only proven way I know to quickly overcome those things is by working ON them. Writing creates clarity, athlete.
If you have someone to talk to every single day openly and honestly, than I suppose journaling every single day is not necessary.
I’ll keep this one short...I work with dozens of high level college athletes and this is a game-changer. Buy a journal, it’s 9 bucks on Amazon→ http://amzn.to/2pqMFnR
Make a date with yourself and your journal to write in it 3 days per week. Write things you are thankful for, write your prayers, write your fears and doubts, etc.
Write down what you did well that day. What you want to improve upon next time. Write your successes and failures, what you learned from your mistakes.
It will clear your brain when things get foggy, give you peace when sports (and life) get stressful, and it will give you a cool memory book to look back on 3 years from now and see all of your old fears, thoughts, and worries that you have OVERCOME.
Self-reflection is not an option if you want to be the most confident, successful athlete you can be. It is necessary.
Go buy that journal and start strengthening your mindset!
