Austin Popovich is our PFP Eldersburg January 2024 Athlete of The Month!
Hi, my name is Austin Popovich and it’s my freshman year at South Carroll High School. Once the offseason for lacrosse started I wanted to get ahead of everyone else and put in as much work as possible, PFP was a great way to work on my physical and mental strength. At first, I was nervous but quickly felt welcome by the great trainers that spread positive messages at the beginning and throughout each session. Since I have started PFP, lacrosse has felt much easier and I feel myself being less tense while in games. During games my tiredness has been greatly reduced, I feel much lighter on my feet, and all around more confident in my play. Before I went to PFP I would become very annoyed at every little mistake I made and I let it take over my thoughts causing me to shut down and play poorly.
Now if I make a mistake, I am able to remember what they taught me and I let it go so I can focus on the game happening right at that moment and not what happened in the past. Not only have they helped with sports, but they are also helping me become a leader instead of a follower; while acknowledging that I will not always be right and it’s good to take other peers’ ideas into consideration when making a decision. I am very thankful that I started going to PFP and I’m exited to see how this upcoming lacrosse season goes after all the hard work I put in. - Austin
