Would you rather Win or Succeed?

"Seek winning with all you've got and yet do not allow it to be the arbiter of whether you succeed."

Coach John Wooden said it this way:

"We will play to win, but winning will never be our measure of success."

Coach Wooden won 10 March Madness National Championships in 12 years-- he knew a thing or two about winning.

But he never once mentioned the word winning to his players.

WHAT?!?

Instead he focused on being successful.

Which begs the questions, what was his definition of success?

Wooden's Definition of Success

Success is peace of mind that is the direct result of self satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming

Today, in everything you do, play to win but do not let winning be the arbiter of whether you were successful.

Choose your own definition of success and then write it down- one that is within your control! And if you are having trouble coming up with one, borrow Wooden's for a while- it worked for him and his teams 😉.
