Are you disgruntled?

Everyday we see disgruntled young men and women who mask their feelings, often with their phones.

They have a posture that says, “I am dissatisfied. I am not getting what I deserve. I am not getting recognized, I am not getting playing time, others are outshining me, I don’t look the way I want to look, I’m not getting the respect from my friends/teachers/coaches/peers that I deserve. I should be further along, better, different.”

And if you and I are honest, we also feel some of those things from time to time.

It’s because our perspective is on outcome rather than journey.

A reminder for all, kids and adults:

Who I become in life is FAR more important than what I accomplish.

When that is my posture and perspective, I am unshakeable.

Temporary defeats become stepping stones rather than fatal bullets.

Dissatisfaction transcends into motivation to keep going, to keep working on myself, my character, my habits.

When things don’t go according to my plans I remember that God’s plans always prevail in perfect timing, so long as I stay the course. When I don’t get the credit, I remember that He is watching and that is all that matters.

I share this today not to lecture, but to remind. We all need perspective shifters in this wacky, “get mine” type world we live in today. It’s not about the outcome, it’s about the journey.
